Aviation Security Services

Aviation security at airports and designated navigational equipment and facilities is vital to the services provided by the aviation industry and to the safety and security of the travelling public.

As such, the provision of aviation security at airports is a key function provided for under Part X of the pdf Civil Aviation Act 2008 (1.01 MB) . Operationally, the service complies with international standards set out under Annex 17 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention) and with procedures set out under the Civil Aviation Rules (CARs) Part 140.

The specific functions and duties associated with aviation security and mandated under the Civil Aviation Act are carried out by the Ministry of Communication and Aviation’s (MCA) Aviation Security Division.
