The Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA), as part of the Solomon Islands Government’s efforts to upgrade facilities and infrastructure for the country’s hosting of the 2023 Pacific Games, is carrying out maintenance and upgrade work to the Henderson International Airport. The main JICA funded project for the Henderson International Airport is being supported by this upgrade project. This project - while working hand in hand with the JICA funded Henderson Airport Upgrade Project - focuses mainly on the building of a fire station and air traffic facilities for the Henderson Airport as well as the resealing of the airport’s runway. Work on this project will also extend to Munda International Airport to include the building of terminal and air traffic facilities for the airport as well as the resealing of the airport’s runway.
