Solomon Islands Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Aviation, Hon. Frederick Kologeto, met with Fiji’s Minister for Information, Hon. Lynda Tabuya, on the sidelines of the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Honiara, Tuesday this week.
The meeting aimed to discuss shared priorities and challenges in the information sector.
Minister Tabuya highlighted Fiji’s efforts to strengthen policies and legislation, including the review of the Online Safety Act, to address online abuse and harm.
She expressed Fiji’s interest in collaborating with Solomon Islands and the wider Pacific region to boost the information sector.
Minister Kologeto shared similar challenges faced by Solomon Islands and emphasized the importance of cooperation, knowledge sharing, and partner support to mitigate current and emerging threats.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation, with a shared vision of building resilient and protected societies.
